Connecting a hospital network's clinical and claims systems

A healthcare group replaced point-to-point interfaces with a managed API and EDI layer for clinical data and claims.

2 min read

The challenge

Dozens of point-to-point interfaces linked the hospitals' EHR, labs and billing systems. Every change risked breaking something, and claims were often rejected for missing data.

What we did

  • Introduced an integration layer with standard APIs for clinical data and EDI for claims
  • Validated claims before submission so errors are caught at source
  • Set up monitoring, audit trails and access controls for patient data

The outcome

New systems now connect once to the integration layer, and claims go out cleaner, with fewer rejections.
